Christian Nationalism Pt. 2

How should Christians relate to their nation? What role should faith play in politics? In this episode of That’s a Good Question, we continue a thoughtful and biblical conversation on Christian nationalism and political engagement.

In Part 2, we explore why the idea of Christian nationalism has gained attention in recent years. Many believers feel pushed to the margins of public life and worry that Christian values no longer shape culture or law. This episode examines those concerns while asking whether the term Christian nationalism truly offers a helpful or faithful response.

The conversation works to clarify what people mean when they use this label and why it often creates confusion. While some embrace the term as a bold stand against secularism, others use it in ways that conflict with biblical teaching. The hosts discuss how Christians can engage politically without supporting ideas that blur the line between church and state or tie faith to ethnicity or power.

This episode also addresses how individual Christians should approach voting, advocacy, and public service. Believers are called to promote justice, support godly laws, and seek the good of their communities. Some may even feel called to serve in government as a vocation. At the same time, the church as an institution must remain faithful to its primary mission—preaching God’s Word and making disciples.

A key focus of the discussion is avoiding political idolatry. The hosts emphasize that while civic engagement matters, Jesus must always remain first. Politics should never replace the gospel or become the source of Christian identity.

Drawing on biblical principles, historical context, and a helpful framework for evaluation, this episode encourages Christians to be faithful disciples and engaged citizens—without establishing a state church or compromising allegiance to Christ.
